SLST Club of the Year for 2022/23

Membership Fees

“Belong to something bigger. Become a Kingston Beach SLSC member and help protect the community, while becoming part of one“

Important message for 23/2024 nipper enrolments:

All new nippers families are now invited to register for the upcoming season as a way to show an expression of interest.  All families are asked NOT to pay until their registration has been accepted by the Junior Coordinator.

How are my Membership Fees Spent by the Club?

As the chart below shows, some two-thirds of our membership fees are spent on insurance payments. Personal and public liability insurance are provided by fees paid to SLSA; property and general insurance has to be paid by the Club. Without insurance, we cannot function as a surf life saving club.

The remaining one-third is spent on Club operational costs.  New capital purchases, such as nipper boards, competition boards, surf skis etc, and surf lifesaving equipment such as first aid equipment, IRB’s, radios, have to be funded through public grant applications that are written by Committee members.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who do I talk to if I am having trouble paying my fees?

KBSLSC is an inclusive community, and we will not allow financial hardship to prevent people from being a member. We have a range of discreet options to assist those in need.  Please address an email to our registrar Jodi Enright if you find yourself in this position.

Q. How do you accept membership payments?

We accept two forms of payment.
-Payments through the online SLSA gateway through your members area account or payments through SQUARE (our point of sale system) in person.

Q. How long does my membership last?
Club membership lasts for one year (season).  To remain a current and financial member it is a requirement for you to renew your membership each season.

Q. Does your club accept ‘Ticket to Play’ vouchers?

Ticket to Play is a Tasmanian Government program designed to reduce the cost of participating in club sport for young Tasmanians. Eligible participants can receive a voucher of up to $100 to use towards the cost of membership of approved clubs.  Kingston Beach SLSC are a registered sporting club and members who qualify can use this voucher to offset their membership fee.  Find out more about Ticket Play.

Q. What happens if I don’t pay my fees?

Members that have not paid fees by 31st December will be declared non-financial.  Members who are not financial are not allowed to use the club or club gear due to insurance reasons.

Q. What is the membership category: nipper parent?

The Nipper Parent (General Member) category has been specifically created to confirm the expectation that at least one (1) parent/carer/guardian will assist in the junior activities program in some capacity. This category is a common requirement amongst all clubs in Tasmania.  The Nipper Parent (General Member) is non-Award or qualification member who assists with Nipper set up, BBQ, or other non-water based activities. They are the parent/guardian/carer of a current Nipper member.  Furthermore, it will ensure that Nipper parents are appropriately covered by insurance during their volunteering. View our policy here

For parents/guardians who are interested in completing their Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze Medallion or first aid award they will be required to upgrade their membership to the ACTIVE or family membership. This is a requirement of Surf Life Saving Australia as engaging in these awards requires award processing fees and access to club equipment/gear.
