SLST Club of the Year for 2022/23

Proficiencies

Water proficiencies are a very important part of the Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club’s initial assessments for safety and competence. We are not a learn-to-swim school.  All children wishing to enter the water during nipper activities MUST have a basic level of competency in the pool. Further, anyone wishing to compete in water events at carnivals or attend board and swim training must successfully complete the competition evaluation at the beach.

All nippers (including seahorses) are required to participate in this evaluation (conducted by Kingston Beach SLSC) prior to any water activity at the beach on a Sunday, mid-week training or carnival participation.

Does your child attend regular swimming lessons? Pool proficiency can be signed off by an accredited swim coach.  In 2023/24 we are once again accepting sign offs from coaches due to the change in requirements.  Please use this this form and email the signed copy to JUNIOR COORDINATOR at kingstonbeachslsc@gmail.com.

For all new and current nippers it is a requirement to attend one of these proficiency/information sessions or get the above form signed.

Please see below for age group specific requirements:

If your child is interested in competing at state-wide carnivals, they are then required to complete a competition proficiency.  This assessment is completed at the beach and assessed by our age managers. Please see below for age group specific requirements:
