The Australia Day swim race is part of the Tasmanian Ocean Swim series but is organised and patrolled by Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The race is run over a 500m and 1.5km distance. The swim is normally part of Kingborough’s “A Day on the beach” Australia Day Celebrations which is held each year on the 26th January, however in 2022, this event will not take place due to COVID-19 restrictions placed on the public event. THE SWIM IS STILL GOING AHEAD!
In 2022, the ‘A Day on the beach’ celebration will not be running at Kingston Beach, however, the surf club will still be running their annual ocean swim on the beach. A strict COVID safe plan will be put in place and a restriction of 250 swimmers entering will be followed.
Registrations for the swim have to be done online before the event day, with NO late registrations being accepted this year due to the COVID restrictions.
